King swallowtail (Papilio thoas)


We have butterfly farm in our garden and there are various kinds of beatiful species!!

We would like to introduce you one of them today.


One of the most beatiful and interesting specie of butterflies that we have in Pierella is King swallowtail (Papilio thoas).

When it is larva phase, it resembles bird’s dropping and when it is in pupal stage, pupas resemble tree trunk or twig.

The caterpillars feed on leaves of citrus plants (Rutaceae).
