ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーQ1. How to get to Pierella Garden from San Jose?
A1. Pierella Ecolological Garden is located approximately 1.5 hours drive from our capital San Jose but it varys depends on road condition.
1. Take the Route 32 Highway (this route is called Zurqui) through the Braulio Carrillo National Park towards Guapiles
2. Afer approximately 45 to 50 minutes drive, You will get to major intersection called Rancho Roberto then, make a turn left and continue driving towards Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui
3. Follow the highway (Route 4 or Ruta 4 in spanish) towards Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui until you get to the small town called Horquetas
4. In Horquetas, there is a lodge called Sun Sun Lodge and about 100m ahead of that lodge, make a turn left where the small bus station
and small gym are located.
5. Then make a turn right to small road (there is a small signboard that says Pierella Ecological Garden) and follow the indication.
6. On the right side of the end of the small road, you will see our gate with beatiful blue morpho painting!!
If you plan to get to Pierella by public bus, you can ride the bus that goes to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui at Caribenos bus terminal in San Jose.Bus usually leaves from bus terminal throughout the day.
To get to Pierella, please get off the bus at Sun Sun Lodge (You have to inform to the driver in advance) and we will pick you up at Sun Sun Lodge or you can walk to Pierella (about 5 minutes by walk from the Lodge to Pierella)
NOTE: There are 2 towns called Puerto Viejo, one is Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui and other is Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, please do not take the bus that goes to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca!!
NOTE: Sometimes traffic jam occurs on route 32 so before driving, we reccomend you to check the road condition of the route 32.

A2. Our accommodation service includes lodging, meals, guided nature tour, night tour (if you wish) and free access to our trails.

A3. It takes about 1.5 hours drive from San Jose but it varys depends on road condition especially condition of Route 32 and which route will you take.

A4. From La Fortuna town, it takes about 1.5 hours but it varys depends on the road condition.

A5. Yes. You can get to Pierella Garden by any kinds of vehicle. The road is well maintained and paved.

A6. Costa Rica is small country but diversity of climate of this country is amazing!!
From our Capital San Jose which is located more than 1000m of altitude to beach resort area which is almost sea level.
Things to bring for travel vary depending on where do you travel.
Sarapiqui where our garden is located is very humid and hot climate, dry season which is from December to April is practically nonexistent in this region and it’s rainy year-round!! (that’why here is called tropical rainforest!!)
Temperature of this region vary more with the altitude than by season.
Average temperatures are around 88F (31C) during the day and 66F (19C) during the night.

A7. We do not normally offer transportation service but we might be able to offer tranportation service from Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui or Guapiles depends on the circumstances. If you need transportation service, please email us at email@example.com to check availability.

A8. Yes. We can prepare special food according to your request. If you have any dietary restriction, please inform us in advance.

A9. The closest city of Pierella Garden is Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui (About 20～30 minutes drive) or Guapiles (40～45 minutes drive)

A10. No. There is no beach near the Pierella Garden. The closest beach might be Limon or Cahuita but it takes about 3 hours drive from Pierella Garden.

A11. Yes. We have WIFI available in public area (Dinner). You can use WIFI in your room but it is very limited.

A12. Yes. We have laundry service for additional cost. If you need laundry service, please inform us to get further information.

A13. It is not allowed to smoke in our property and in our rooms.

A14. We do not have any time schedule of tour. You can start our guided tour in the morning or afternoon.

A15. You can park your car inside our property. There is some space near the entrance or you can park in front of our property as well.
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーQ16. What kind of clothes should I wear?
A16. We reccomend you to wear long sleeved t-shirts and long pants because there are a lot of mosquitos!!
During the night, temperature drops and you might feel chilly so if you stay at Pierella, please take extra clothes to wear.
We reccomend you also to take shoes, please do not come to Pierella with sandals because there are various kinds of dangerous animals in tropical rainforest!!
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーQ17. What should I bring to Sarapiqui?
A17. We reccomend you to take following items:
– Rainwear (or at least umbrella)
– Binoculares (If you have)
– Insect repellent
– Closed Shoes (Especially hiking shoes or boots)
– Sun screen
– Long pants and long sleeved t-shirts (To avoid mosquito and chilly evening)
– Extra clothes
– Flashlight (If you stay at Pierella Garden)

A18. Our guided tour takes about 2 hours. You walk with our nature guide at very slow pace to find animals as much as possible.
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーQ19. Do I need to make an reservation before visit?
A19. Yes. Reservation is required before visit. You can email us to make an reservation and please inform us the date you visit, number of persons, dietary restrictions (if you have) and estimated time of your visit. If you have any other request, please inform us in advance.

A20. Yes. We can offer guided tour in english also in spanish.

A21. Yes there are that kind of diseases like Malaria, dengue but usually, very few cases of dengue and malaria have been reported in Costa Rica.
