Today, We would like to introduce you about Achiote tree (Bixa orellana).
The fruits of this tree is red and is the source of annatto (a natural orange red colored condiment).
It is tradicionally used as a natural condiment in various latin american countries.
We, Costarican people use it for making food as well, especially when we cook Arroz con Pollo (chicken rice), achiote is necessary to make yellow or orange colored rice!!
We have achiote tree in our garden and it is bearing it’s beautiful red fruits now!!
